Four-star CB Prophet Brown commits to USC!

Brown chose the Trojans over several ‘blue-blood’ programs

ANOTHER ONE!

Four-star cornerback prospect Prophet Brown has officially committed to the USC Trojans, joining the nation’s seventh-ranked recruiting class with his verbal pledge.

Brown has become the 12th four-star commitment to pledge his services to the Trojans but becomes just the first true cornerback prospect on the list for the class of 2021.

He ranks out as the country’s 15th-best overall cornerback on the 247Sports Composite, even though 247Sports has him as the 10th-best CB in the nation. They also rank him as the 11th-best player in the state of California and the 127th-best player overall.

At 5’10, 180, Brown is rangy and has great speed, coming from his time in the backfield and out wide on offense for Monterey Trail in Elk Grove.

In fact, his offensive prowess is what originally got him on the recruiting map and his evaluation from 247Sports includes his offensive positions. Actually, it’s all about him on offense, even comparing him to Raheem Mostert.

One of the more dynamic players in the region, a sub-11 100m as a sophomore was a PR. Explosive on film, hits top gear quickly and gets to second level with burst. Can split out wide or match up against linebackers to exploit wheel routes. Needs to improve running with power, primarily runs with short area burst but needs to continue churning through contact. Projects as multi-year Power 5 starter and projects as early third day pick.

Still, he’s going to see the field for USC as a defensive back and had 16 scholarship offers to his credit. He chose the Trojans over schools like Oklahoma, Oregon, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Michigan among others.

The recruiting analysts are pretty sold on Brown and for good reason, at least him film provides that good reason.

Fight On, Prophet! Welcome to the Trojan Family!
