USC goes 2 for 2 on National Signing Day!
Olaijah Griffin announced that he will be signing with USC over Alabama and Oregon on National Signing Day.
The 247 composite has Griffin rated as a 5 star cornerback and is ranked 3rd at his position and overall in the state of California. The 6’0, 170 lb cornerback out of Mission Viejo High School in Mission Viejo, California was a former UCLA verbal commit, however he decommitted from the Bruins in late December. Interesting thing about Griffin is that he is the son of legendary west coast hip hop artist Warren G!
Griffin commitment gives the Trojans another corner with a lot of playmaking ability. The Trojans already have Jack Jones and Ajane Harris along with Iman Marshall returning for his senior season as their returning starters. Not to mention players like the injured Jonathan Lockett and 2017 recruits Greg Johnson and Je’Quari Godfrey, USC has depth at the corner position, but it’s not impossible for Griffin to see the field at all given the performance of the cornerback group last season. He could bring some much needed playmaking ability and help early on to the Trojans cornerback unit. We could also see Griffin on special teams as a returner, which is a huge need for USC especially after last season’s struggles finding players to replace Adoree Jackson on the kick and punt return.
