Several members of the 2016 USC recruiting class have already started classes in Los Angeles this semester, so it should come as no surprise that Nathan Smith, who also enrolled early, is officially a Trojan.
Smith, who is 6'7 and weighs 264 pounds, is a four-star offensive tackle out of Murrieta, Calif., per 247Sports composite rankings. The nation's 26th best player in his position also made a handful of unofficial visits to schools such as Arizona State and Arizona before picking the Trojans.
It can be difficult to step in and make a contribution early as an offensive lineman, but enrolling early will certainly help Smith's chances. Smith will likely need to add a little more weight to his frame before he can step up and start along the line, but his frame and HS film shows why he was deserving of his high recruiting ranking.
