USC currently faces depth issues at defensive back for spring camp, however there was some positive that finally hit the position. Redshirt sophomore cornerback Greg Johnson returned to the team for practice on Thursday and was dressed to participate. This comes after Johnson entered the NCAA transfer portal last Friday.

Seeing Johnson return to practice was a positive sign for the defensive back position. They currently face depth issues with players recovering from injuries suffered last season. On Tuesday they were only down to three scholarship cornerbacks. Johnson is still limited after suffering a shoulder injury that required season ending surgery. It’s unknown if his name is still in the transfer portal, but his return to practice is a huge positive for the Trojans.
Reports of Greg Johnson entering the transfer portal surfaced last Friday afternoon. USC head coach Clay Helton confirmed that the sophomore cornerback was seeking a transfer from the program. Helton didn’t provide an update on Johnson’s status following Thursday’s practice. Seeing him dressed out could mean he reconsidered or is at least open pulling his name from the portal.
