USC Football: Trojans unveil their depth chart for the Season Opener

With very few surprises, the Trojans return with a bevy of experienced starters

NCAA Football: Cotton Bowl-Ohio State vs Southern California Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The big news yesterday was coach Clay Helton naming true freshman and Gatorade National Athlete of the Year J.T. Daniels as the starting quarterback, but USC released its full depth chart yesterday as well.

A notable position battle decision was Austin Jackson beating out Clayton Bradley at left tackle. Stephen Carr, Aca‘Cedric Ware and Vavae Malepeai were named co-starters at tailback, while the CB position opposite Iman Marshall is yet to be decided between Greg Johnson and Isaiah Langley.

Matt Fink was named the backup QB, which strongly suggests that a transfer from Jack Sears is likely. True freshmen standouts from fall camp Amon Ra St. Brown and Devon Williams were named the backup wide receivers and additionally St. Brown will replace Ajene Harris as the punt returner.

Ykili Ross held true to his commitment promise in 2015 that he would be at USC for the “next 3 years," but not in the way he had hoped. Ross will not be on the team this fall and instead focus on becoming a graduate transfer.
