It wasn’t a long time ago that Miller Moss committed her services to the USC Trojans. And it won’t be long before we see him put his elite-level talent against the best in the country either.
Moss was nabbed as one of the 20 finalists for the Elite 11 Finals slated to take place in Murfreesboro, Tennessee later this summer. If all goes to play amid COVID-19, the finals will pit 20 of the nation’s top quarterback prospects including a who’s who of the top 5-star and 4-star prospects.
It’s considered the nation’s premiere quarterback camp and though they had their regional camp invites cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, regional camps in Atlanta and Los Angeles had been held. Still, the invites include a variety of Power-5 committed quarterbacks and some of the most sought-after recruits in the class of 2021.
Moss finds himself on the list of finalists that is a prestigious group in and of itself. The former names that have competed in the Elite 11 Finals include two of this year’s Heisman front runners including Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence. North Carolina’s Sam Howell and Texas’ Sam Ehlinger as well as former college quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa, Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins, Deshaun Watson, Jared Goff and Jameis Winston were among those that have previously taken part in the event.
From Moss’ evaluation by 247Sports:
“A pure pocket passer with one of the quickest releases in the country. A very cerebral quarterback with a great feel for the position. Extremely poised and never looks nervous or hurried. Has an advanced feel for throwing with timing and anticipation. Shows good arm strength and can rip throws through tight windows. Can continue to improve athletically but has good pocket mobility, can move around, buy time and keeps his eyes down the field. Changes speed and throws with touch and is very accurate down the field. Plays with toughness and will stand in the pocket and take a shot to get the ball out. Projects as an impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future mid-round NFL Draft pick.”
He’s from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana and represents a massive get for Clay Helton and Co. as Helton’s claim to ‘take back the West’ is in full force. Retaining west coast talent is paramount to the successful execution of taking back the west, for sure.
Moss currently projects as a second- or third-round draft pick in the NFL draft when he eventually makes the professional leap.
Congratulations Miller — and way to represent Trojan Nation! Fight On!
