What’s next for Michael Pittman Jr. and USC’s NFL hopefuls before the draft

NCAA Football: Southern California at Colorado Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The 2020 NFL Scouting Combine has come and gone in a historic fashion, seeing record viewers and their first ever primetime TV slot. With that now in the rear-view window, the prospects seemingly fade away from the national media as we now have nearly a 2-month window before we see them publicly again at the 2020 NFL Draft in Las Vegas.

So what lies ahead for USC WR Michael Pittman Jr. and the rest of the hopefuls from the Trojans before the draft begins in late April?

The first big offseason step for Pittman’s journey came at the combine. He fared very well for his size with some favorable numbers in certain drills. And now that the combine is over, Pittman, like his fellow former teammates with NFL aspirations, will focus their energy on the USC Pro Day on March 19.

Pittman will likely be the feature athlete at the USC Pro Day but fellow Trojans also stand a chance to rise up draft boards with great individual workouts. Offensive linemen Austin Jackson and Drew Richmond and edge defender Christian Rector are other bigger names to watch as the day unfolds. It’s still unsure about the exact number of Trojans taking part in the events as well as how many NFL teams will be represented but one thing is for sure, this year’s USC Pro Day will likely pale in comparison to next year’s.

The amount of returning talent to the field this fall is stacked not only in terms of high rankings in offseason projections but also sure to dot a slew of ‘way-too-early mock drafts’ immediately following the 2020 NFL Draft this April.

Still, the 2020 version of the USC Pro Day will have its highlights and we’ll be following it as much as we can. Pittman and the rest of the USC NFL hopefuls will be taking part in individual workouts and anything else they can do to hone their craft ahead of the draft as the next two months will surely go by at a snail’s pace for those likely to hear their names called next month and NFL draft fans alike.

The schedule of important dates is as follows:

USC Pro Day: March 19 (time tbd)

Day 2 (Rounds 2-3) — Friday, April 24
