The USC Trojans have played a good stretch of basketball through their few games. They’ve won 5 of their last 6 games and sit at 6-2 in the Pac-12 conference with a 17-4 overall record. USC is also in a good position for the NCAA tournament according to a few analyst and projected brackets.
The Trojans now head into a tough stretch of games that will not only test them, but truly tell if they’re conference contenders or ready for March. In a two week span USC will play Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, and Washington. Two of the four teams in Arizona and Colorado are prime contenders that could win the Pac-12 conference. While it is a tough slate for the Trojans to play, there’s plenty to be optimistic about.
USC is playing good basketball at just the right time. They’re figuring out their roles and coming together. As mentioned the Trojans have won 5 of their last 6 games with the lone loss coming in double over time against the Oregon Ducks. These games are good opportunities for the Trojans strengthen their resume within the conference. Two games are against quality opponents in Arizona and Colorado. Both that will most likely be playing in the NCAA Tournament come March. The game against Washington is a chance for USC to avenge a blowout loss in Seattle in early January.
Another positive for USC is that Colorado and Washington come to the Galen Center. The Trojans are 9-1 at home and have won 5 consecutive games at home. However, they must travel to face Arizona and Arizona State. The biggest obstacle will be getting a win in Tucson. You have to go as far back as 2007 for the last victory over the Wildcats on the road. USC have also been a different team on the road, starting off fast, but struggling to finish as the game goes.
Not only are these games important for the Trojans on the road to March, but wins through this slate of game will put them on the right path towards claiming the Pac-12 regular season championship and the No. 1 seed in the Pac-12 tournament. It’s a good chance that USC will make the NCAA tournament unless they have a bad collapse down the stretch, but the next four games will be tell everything we need to know about this team.
