The USC Trojans men’s basketball program rolled through Santa Clara on Tuesday night and with the Pac-12 slate ahead of them, they seem to be catching their stride at the right time.
In fact, with the turn of the New Year just a day away and the Colorado Buffaloes on the docket, the LA Times took a look at the top 10 moments from 2020 and though some of them were positive, the rest of them left me scratching my head.
The top moments in this countdown came from a variety of moments, but noticeably were when Onyeka Okongwu declared for the draft and became a lottery pick, Evan Mobley debuted for the Trojans and scored 21 points, defeating Stanford after being down 21, defeating UCLA (clearly the best moment in 2020 basketball) and the defensive win over Arizona. Those were the positives in the countdown, but then came the head-scratchers.
The top 10 moments also included the cancellation of the Pac-12 and NCAA Tournaments, losing to Arizona State, losing to Utah and losing to UConn. It also brushed on the December 13th cancellation of USC’s nonconference games.
Call me strange, but I wouldn’t call those ‘top 10’ moments, instead, I’d just blame them on 2020 itself.
Either way, the Trojans are riding high into a matchup with Colorado tomorrow and I thought I would take a look at what’s been going on with the USC men’s basketball from the eyes and ears around the program:
USC returns with 86-63 rout over Santa Clara
Trojans show no rust in first game back
Drake London will not suit up for USC basketball this season
USC basketball essentially begins a second season this week
Arizona self-imposes 1-year NCAA Tourament ban, but what about USC?
