The USC Trojans have been busy on the field, preparing for their final game against UCLA, but in off-field news this week, longtime commit Jake Garcia has decommitted from the Trojans.
Garcia had been committed to USC since September of 2019 after he has taken to playing his senior season in Georgia, following the CIF postponing the football season until at least spring of 2021. USC received a verbal commitment from QB Miller Moss earlier this year and apparently have shown enough interest in QB Jaxson Dart from Draper Corner Canyon in Utah, that it forced Garcia to look elsewhere.
According to Rivals.com, it appears that Miami is the frontrunner to land Garcia’s services, Moss appears happily committed to USC and Dart has USC, UCLA and Arizona State among others in the running for his services. Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell has this to say on the issue:
“With Moss in the class, this is still a big loss because they just don’t have numbers at quarterback at USC. Garcia is the more talented of the QBs in my opinion so I’m giving this a high score despite a four-star QB left in the class.”
We’ll have to hope that they can land Dart in the process after losing out on Garcia, and here’s hoping for the best for him in the long run.
FIGHT ON!
