USC vs. Arizona Final Score 34-30: Trojans score late to top Wildcats in classic Pac-12 thriller

That was too close!

NCAA Football: Southern California at Arizona Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Sophomore quarterback Kedon Slovis passed for 325 yards and a single touchdown and running back Vavae Malepeai scored a rushing touchdown with 33 seconds remaining to help outlast the Arizona Wildcats in a back-and-forth 34-30 contest on Saturday afternoon in Tucson.

It wasn’t a particularly clean performance by the Trojans as announcers commented throughout the night on how the offense seemed to struggle to find a groove all game long. Slovis still finished with 30 completions on 43 pass attempts and the running game provided plenty of sparks as Stephen Carr and Markese Stepp both rushed for over 80 yards and a score. Junior wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown finished with a game-high 113 yards receiving on seven receptions

Defensively, the Trojans got splash plays in the forms of a Talanoa Hufanga interception and a pair of Drake Jackson sacks.

Arizona quarterback Grant Gunnell finished 23-of-35 for three yards and three touchdowns with an interception. Running back Gary Brightwell took 21 carries for 112 yards while Tayvian Cunningham led the Wildcats with 110 yards on five catches.

USC moves to 2-0 and the Wildcats drop to 0-1 on the season.
