The USC Trojans picked up a big commitment, literally, when three-star offensive guard Ty Buchanan committed from the state of Texas.
Standing at 6’5, 280, Buchanan is one of the state’s top prospects along the offensive line and had at least 30 scholarship offers from universities across the country.

247Sports ranks Buchanan as the nation’s 49th-ranked guard for the class of 2021, the 136th-best prospect in Texas and the 964th-ranked overall player for this class.
The three-star guard had offers from a ton of schools, most notably from Big 12 power and in-state Texas Tech, where he was originally predicted to land. He also had offers from Oklahoma State, Colorado, Army, Indiana, Purdue and Vanderbilt, among others.
He’s an incredibly talented guard and should make for one talented Pac-12 offensive lineman.
Got a first-hand look at @tybuchanan75 today. The newest @USC_FB commit is a STUD and represents @CalallenCats very well. Trojans got a good one! We'll have the story on his decision to head out west soon.@USC_Athletics @KRIS6News @KRIS6sports @DaGman7 @USCCoachHelton pic.twitter.com/iENSLVjZn4
