The USC Trojans basketball program has just landed the No. 1 player in the 2020 recruiting class.

Five star center Evan Mobley committed to the Trojans, Monday morning. The news broke via ESPN’s Sportscenter Twitter account, which reported that Mobley told national recruiting director Paul Biancardi about the commitment to USC.

Mobley is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the 2020 recruiting class according to the 247 sports composite. Coming out of Rancho Christian High School in Temecula, CA, Mobley had offers from Washington, UCLA, Michigan and San Diego State. The five star center was a member of the USA Men’s 19U National team that won the FIBA World Cup back in June. He’s also a member of the Compton Magic AAU Basketball team. During his junior season at Rancho Christian, Mobley averaged 19.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 4.7 blocks.

The commitment of Mobley is a huge and impactful one for the Trojans. He has the ability to impact the game on offense and defense. Many consider him to be a potential Top 5 pick once he’s eligible for the NBA draft.

There are heavy USC ties with Mobley already. His father is Eric is currently on Andy Enfield’s staff as an assistant coach, while his older brother Isaiah is set to begin his freshman year with the Trojans. He was also teammates with incoming freshman Onyeka Okongwu on the Compton Magic last year. Many believed that both the Mobley brothers would come to USC once their father Eric was brought on to the coaching staff.

Head coach Andy Enfield has drastically helped improve USC’s recruiting over the last few years on the recruiting scene. The 2019 recruiting class, which features the top two players in the state of California in Isaiah Mobley and Okongwu, was ranked as one of the top 5 classes in the nation. Evan Mobley becomes the highest rated recruit to commit to the Trojans basketball since O.J. Mayo in 2007 (No. 2 recruit in the 07 recruiting class.).
