Okonogwu is rated as 5 star recruit and ranked as the No. 16 player in the nation, 2nd in California, and 5th nationally as a center by the 247 Sports composite. This makes him the highest rated played to commit to USC since DeMar Derozan back in 2008 when he was ranked sixth. The 6’9 power forward out of Chino Hills is regarded as the top High School basketball player in Southern California. Okonogowu has started at Chino Hills since his freshman year where he played along side the Ball brothers on a Huskies team that went 35-0. During his Junior season, He averaged 28 points and 12 rebounds.
Okonogwu commitment gives the Trojans a shot blocker and rebounder in the 2019 recruiting class. The last couple of years USC has been making their mark in the recruiting trail. They have Former 5 star Charles O’Bannon Jr on the roster and have current 5 star Kevin Porter Jr. on the way. This is indeed a huge get by Andy Enfield and the USC Basketball program and there could be more on the way.
