Well, Lynn Swann and Clay Helton are losing a coach. It has been reported that running backs coach Deland McCullough has accepted an offer to join the Kansas City Chiefs staff as their new RB coach.
The news is bittersweet - on one hand, it’s easy to be happy for McCullough as he is a part of the Trojan family but we hate to see him go as he just helped Ronald Jones II have quite a productive season. Jones, on the year, had a total of 1,550 rushing yards and 20 total touchdowns. As a team USC finished the season ranked 33rd in the nation with 2,591 rushing yards.
It would’ve been cool to see what McCullough could have done with the likes of Stephen Carr moving forward but, ultimately, coaches must also think about progressing their own careers and doing what’s best for them.
Fight on!
