Lobendahn’s return gives the Trojans offensive line a much needed boost. Both he and right tackle Chuma Edoga, who also announced that he would be returning after the Cotton Bowl, will add a much needed veteran presence to the line. There has been word that Lobendahn would move from guard to center next season.
Cameron Smith return is a surprising one considering many believing that he would turn pro. Smith’s return gives the Trojans a much need boost to the middle linebacking core that lacks depth. USC added 5 star linebacker Palaie Gaotote in the 2018 recruiting class and have former 4 star linebacker Levi Jones. Smith also bring leadership to the Trojans defense, which will be needed for next season. Last two seasons Smith has led USC in tackles. Last season Smith led the Trojans with 112 tackles and 11 tackles for loss.
