Top 25 Games
#6 Oklahoma State vs. #16 TCU - 12:30pm PST, ESPN
Mike Gundy's mullet is pretty much all it takes for me to watch an OK State game nowadays - add the fact that star quarterback Mason Rudolph has perennial NFL-starter James Washington to throw to and, well, it's fun to watch. The Cowboys were a lot of pundits' pick to make a case as a dark horse College Football Playoff candidate; the Horned Frogs will be looking to spoil these expectations behind the leadership of former Texas A&M Aggies starting quarterback Kenny Hill (you know, the guy that took over for Johnny Manziel).
#11 Georgia vs. #17 Mississippi State - 4:00pm PST, ESPN
It's the Battle of the Bulldogs! At the beginning of the season there weren't many who thought that this game would garner as much attention. Georgia is coming off a win they eked out against Notre Dame (final score 20-19) in week 2 and a blowout victory last week against the Samford Bulldgogs and they look poised to keep things rolling against Dan Mullens and a Mississippi State team trying to spoil Georgia's postseason aspirations. MSU wasn't even ranked coming into the season but they've won pretty handily in their three games, capped mainly by the drubbing they put on the LSU Tigers this past week. This should be a good one.
Potential Upsets
Colorado (3-0) vs. #7 Washington (3-0) - 7:00pm PST, FS1
Colorado is inching closer and closer and this could be the game that vaults the Buffs into the top 25. Jake Browning and co. will need to show up more than they have so far this season. They are undefeated but they've shown signs of struggle against Rutgers in week 1. They followed up that victory with impressive outings against Montana and Fresno State but they'll have their hands full trying to keep running back Phillip Lindsay locked down all night (on the season he has 71 carries, 378 yards, and 3 touchdowns).
Purdue vs. #8 Michigan - 1:00pm PST, FOX
Head Coach Jeff Brohm has this offense clicking on all cylinders and, while they haven't faced a defense quite like this, they could provide some trouble for Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverine team. They will be without the freshman standout Tarik Black at receiver, so that could play a factor if this turns into a shootout.
#12 Florida State vs. NC State - 9:00am PST, ABC/ESPN2
The Seminoles have not played a game since their week 1 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide, a game in which they lost starting quarterback Deondre Francois for the year to a patella injury in his left knee. Up next at quarterback is James Blackman. NC State has a very talented front seven, so Blackman will have to prove his prowess in pushing the ball downfield. It will be interesting to see how Jimbo Fisher creates a gameplan around his young and unproven quarterback.
