Sam Darnold’s fame continues to flourish as the preseason heisman favorite is now set to be featured on ESPN’s brand new show tomorrow night: Marty Smith’s America.

After an impressive freshman campaign where Darnold threw (67.2 percent) for over 3,000 yards and 31 touchdowns, he has stepped into the center of the College Football spotlight and is expected to lead his USC Trojans on a CFB Playoff run.

However, the purpose of this show is to look deeper than just stats and games, as Marty Smith says: (ESPN News Release)

“Everyone has a story,” said Smith. “This life is about relationships and sharing those stories. My team and I thoroughly enjoy telling them, through the prism of building lasting relationships. Work hard. Be kind. Have passion. That's us. We have a unique style and energy. We genuinely care about the people we cover -- not just the stories they provide.”

Smith recently visited Darnold and spent the day with him on the University of Southern California’s campus and the surrounding area. You can see a video preview below of their interaction.

I for one am interested to see how that throw ends.

Darnold is just one of several athletes to be featured on the premiere episode of Marty Smith’s America, including International soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Maverick Carter, the agent and best friend of NBA superstar LeBron James. The one hour debut will also have a special guest co-host Tim Tebow.

Tune in to ESPN to see a new perspective on not only Sam Darnold, but all star athletes Wednesday, August 2 at 7pm ET. If you’re unavailable, the show will re-air multiple times on both ESPN2 and ESPNEWS, and all segments will appear on ESPN.com.
