USC blows an early 2-1 lead en route to losing game 2 of the Crosstown Showdown vs the UCLA Bruins. Redshirt Junior Frankie Rios lead the Trojans with 3 hits, including a RBI double.
The Trojan bats were alive and swinging and knocked Bruin pitcher Moises Ceja out of the game in the second inning. However, the trojans stranded 9 men on base and couldn’t turn their hits into runs, which has become a running theme in the first two games against their cross-town rivals.
Trojan freshman pitcher Chris Clarke did his part only giving up one earned run through 7 innings and added two strikeouts. But, a solo homerun in the 6th inning by Sean Bouchard tied the game for the Bruins. Connor Lunn came on in the top of the 8th for Clarke but eventually gave up the game-winning hit to freshman Ryan Kreidler in the top of the ninth which gave the Bruins a 4-2 lead.
The Trojans will look to avoid the sweep and win one in front of the home fans Saturday night at 7:00 pm. The game will be available on PAC-12 Network LA, on Pac-12.com and on the PAC-12 Now app.
