2017 NFL Draft: Chad Wheeler gets snagged by the New York Giants

Another Trojan linemen is off to the NFL

NCAA Football: Alabama vs Southern California Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

One of the more athletic offensive linemen in the draft Chad Wheeler is now a member of the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent. Wheeler announced his signing on Twitter.

Measurements: 6'7″ | 307 lbs | 33 1/8” arms | 9 1/2’ hands

Vertical Jump: 20.5″

Broad: 105″

40 Yard Dash: 5.48

Bench Press: 15 reps

20-Yard Shuttle: 5.01

Wheeler consistently showed his solid footwork in combination with his above-average athleticism at the position during his time as a Trojan.

He’s not as strong as he should be given his large frame, but he really moves well and would best be suited as swing tackle in a similar role as Jacksonville Jaguars tackle Jeremy Parnell.

Wheeler has been oft-injured at his career with the USC Trojans as his injuries vary from concussions to a torn ACL he suffered in 2014. In addition to the injuries, there are also off-field concerns as he was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend in 2015 which resulted in him being subdued and ultimately arrested by police officers.

Wheeler has the natural gifts to be a solid starting tackle for years to come if he cleans up his personal issues as well as staying durable.
