USC got some huge news regarding a key player for their hoops program. Chimezie Metu announced on Instagram Monday night that he would return for his junior year with the Trojans. USC athletics would soon confirm his return.

This is a huge boost to a USC team who are apparently on the rise up after their impressive showing in the NCAA tournament. Earlier the Trojans had Shaqquan Aaron, Bennie Boatwright, and Elijah Stewart declare for the NBA draft, however they did not hire an agent which mean they can withdraw from the draft and return to USC before May 24th.

Last season Metu averaged 14.8 points, 7.8 rebounds per game, and led the team in blocks with 55 for the season. He was also voted for Most Improved Player in the Pac-12 for his outstanding season. During the NCAA tournament he helped lead the team to multiple comebacks with his impressive defensive play.

If USC can get 2 of the 3 players that declared for the draft back, the Trojans could potentially become a preseason Top 10 team come next fall. Things could be looking up for the USC Basketball program.
