USC Basketball picked up a fifth-straight win in convincing fashion Thursday night over the struggling Oregon State Beavers as the USC Trojans won 92-66 over the Beavers at the Galen Center. The Trojans are now 21-4 on the season and 8-4 in Pac-12 Conference play. You can check out highlights, interviews and recaps below.
The game against Oregon State likely served as a nice tune up before the USC basketball schedule turns into possibly the most difficult stretch of the season. USC basketball will face 3 straight teams ranked in the top 10 nationally. On Saturday USC will host the Oregon Ducks, take about a week off and then head across town for a matchup with the UCLA Bruins on the 18th. After the Bruins, USC plays the Arizona Wildcats on the road on the 23rd.
On the positive side the USC basketball schedule provides plenty of time in between each of these games for the Trojans to get rested and ready to play tough opponents. Make no mistake though, in the next two weeks this USC basketball team will be tested and we will find out just how far this USC basketball program has progressed and how far they still need to go.
Highlights, interviews and recaps from Oregon State are below:
“The Trojans shot 51 percent from the field, sank 10 of 22 3-pointers, and made 26 of 31 free throws, while holding the Beavers to 39 percent shooting at the other end in Boatwright's third game back.
[. . .]
The Trojans have won five of their last six Pac-12 games after losing three of their first five.”
“USC out-shot Oregon State and had more rebounds, assists, steals and blocks than the Beavers. The Trojans had a better shooting percentage inside the arc, outside the arc and at the free-throw line. Oregon State also managed to commit more fouls and turnovers than USC.”
“With Shaqquan Aaron and Bennie Boatwright settling in, and shots starting to fall, the Southern California Trojans feel like they're more dangerous than ever.
Aaron scored 21 points and Boatwright added 16 as Southern California cruised to a 92-66 victory over Oregon State on Thursday night.”
“Coming into the game, the Trojans were looking to win their fifth game in a row while Oregon State was looking for their first win in conference.
USC needed to take care of business ahead of a pivotal match up with Oregon on the weekend and they did just that.”
