Javon Kinlaw to South Carolina: DE Recruit signs with the Gamecocks

One of the few misses for the Trojans Today

NFL: Los Angeles Rams Press Conference Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Strong-side defensive end Javon Kinlaw announced on National Signing Day 2017 that he intends to play for South Carolina. Kinlaw is rated as a 4-Star player and 247 sports composite ranks him as the 2nd best player in the country at the position. Kinlaw had offers from many teams including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ole Miss Rebels, Tennessee Volunteers and several more but Kinlaw narrowed his choices down to the USC Trojans and the South Carolina Gamecocks. The 6’ 6”, 305 pound prospect is from Goose Creek High School in Goose Creek, SC.

Kinlaw is from the State of South Carolina so it makes sense that he would stick closer to home rather than attend school on the other side of the country. While The Trojans did miss out on Kinlaw who could have provided a much needed boost to the USC defensive front it is not all bad news. The class has already signed 4-star weak-side defensive end Hunter Echols and 4-star defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu already enrolled at USC. While Kinlaw would have been a nice addition the Trojans are still piecing together an amazing recruiting class.
