UCLA-USC football game preview
What’s on the line for USC and UCLA today:
First the Victory Bell is on the line along with bragging rights, pride, and the opportunity to stomp the Bruins. This is a big recruiting weekend for both schools. The players for both schools also will get the chance to see and compete against their high school teammates and rivals.
USC won the Pac-12 South last week against Colorado securing their spot in the Pac-12 Championship game. The prediction models are giving the Trojans a minuscule chance at making the College Football Playoff like FiveThirtyEight.com giving USC a 7% chance to make the CFP. The Trojans have the opportunity to tune things up and head into the bye week with momentum.
UCLA, however, is a bit more desperate. With a 5-5 record coming into the game the Bruins need one more win to become bowl eligible which seems much more likely to occur next week when they host Cal. UCLA coach Jim Mora’s continued employment would almost certainly have to be considered after this game. A win over USC, historically, may be good enough to keep his job. An 11 million dollar buyout also might help Mora stay put.
