The updated AP Top 25 released Sunday afternoon and for USC it’s quite a sight. Following their 30-27 defeat by Washington State Friday night, the Trojans dropped nine spots from No. 5 to No. 14 in the polls. Despite USC losing by three to a ranked opponent on the road on top of it being a short week, the voters still punished USC for the loss. Washington State jumped up 5 spots from No. 16 to No. 11 in the AP Top 25.
USC returns home to the L.A. Memorial Coliseum to face Oregon State. After that they’ll face two ranked teams back to back in No. 20 Utah (at home) and No. 21 Notre Dame (in South Bend). If the Trojans can win three straight then they could make another appearance in the Top 10 with two quality wins.
For the rest of the Pac-12, Washington stayed at No. 6 after defeating Oregon State on the road. Oregon and Stanford also received Top 25 votes following their home victories on Saturday.
Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Penn State stayed put in the top 4 while Georgia jumped two spots from No. 7 to No. 5. Ohio State made their way back into the Top 10. TCU, Michigan, and Wisconsin jumped up one spot in the top 10. See the full rankings here: AP Poll
