The USC Trojans were given another reason to celebrate after learning linebacker Uchenna Nwosu and Rasheem Green were selected for the Chuck Bednarik award watch list.

The Bednarik award is present to the best defensive player each year. Even with only six games down, both players are putting together a great argument for their voters. Nwosu plays a key role for the Trojans linebacker core, and consistently makes his presence felt on the field. Nwosu has 34 tackles on the season along with 1.5 sacks, and one interception.

A big part of Nwosu’s game is his ability to pressure the opposing quarterback. Nwosu also has 8 pass deflections on the year with 5 of those coming against Stanford. Nasheem Green has also been keeping busy at the defensive tackle position. The junior has been able to post 26 tackles on the year along with 3.5 stacks.

Even at the tackle position, Green has been able to pressure opponents and bat down three passes on the season. With the 59th-ranked defense in college football, his performance gives fans a lot to be excited about.

With what is expected to be a tough game against Utah on Saturday, expect these two guys to be key components the Trojans look to for the rest of the year.
