3-star safety K.J. Jarrell, announced Wednesday morning via press conference that he will play for the Arizona State Sun Devils. The USC Trojans and California Golden Bears were also in the running as well. Jarrell is from Scottsdale, Arizona and opted to stay in his home state. Jarrell is rated as a 3-star or 4-star depending on the recruiting service you use. 247 Sports has him rated as a 3-star and the 27th best safety in the nation.
The Trojans have a verbal commitment from 4-star safety Bubba Bolden and host of other blue-chip safeties already on the roster including, John Plattenburg, Marvell Tell and Ykili Ross. Isaiah Pola-Mao a 4-star safety is also strongly considering committing to the Trojans as well. In other words, USC is pretty solid at the safety position.
Overall the Trojans are sitting at 18 verbal commitments (with one likely to blue shirt). USC is currently has the top-ranked recruiting class in the Pac-12 Conference and the 10th best in the nation. National Signing Day is just under a week away and Clay Helton and the staff are looking to close strong.
