USC football welcomes 4 Early Enrollees including QB Jack Sears

USC announces the four early enrollments for the Spring

NCAA Football: Rose Bowl Game-Penn State vs Southern California Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

USC wasted no time looking towards the next season. Wednesday afternoon the Trojans welcomed 4 of their early enrollees who are now taking Spring classes.

One guy to keep an eye on out of the group will be Four Star quarterback Jack Sears out of San Clemente. While he won't get to play early due to fellow San Clemente alum Sam Darnold having the job locked down, Sears can use spring practice to get an early head start on becoming the backup to Darnold. Also gives Sears a head start to be prepared once Darnold departs.

From: “Scouting New USC Trojans QB Commit Jack Sears

“Sears’ designation as a pro-style quarterback is not completely accurate. He is a pocket passer who prefers to throw rather than run, but he is very athletic and has the ability to make defenses pay with his feet. According to 247Sports, Sears runs a 4.66 40 yard dash time. This would have been the second fastest time at last year’s NFL Combine. Sears is extremely athletic similar to Darnold and he has good speed in the open field. Plus, he is comfortable moving to the left and right while throwing—a valuable skill to have in a play-action offense where roll-outs are common.”
