After practice on Thursday USC Trojans football coach Clay Helton spoke to the media. Helton spoke about the importance of winning in the red zone against Alabama and spent plenty of time working on it during Thursday’s practice.
Helton was asked if the Trojans would be ready to go if they had to play today, Helton responded that his team is ahead of where they wanted to be but in order to beat the #1 team in the nation he is more than happy to have the extra week to prepare. Coach Helton also made it clear that he is preparing for an even faster Alabama defense than what we saw last season from the Crimson Tide.
On the injury front, Offenive Tackle Chad Wheeler got some individual work in Thursday’s practice was able to get through it with no pain. Previously Helton has said Wheeler was at 50/50 to start against Alabama but he really seems to be progressing nicely from his injury. Defensive Back Marvell Tell has been battling a hamstring injury for some time now but was able to get plenty of work in team periods and Helton said he looked really good in practice.
