USC received their 14th commitment of the 2017 recruiting class when three star defensive end Jacob Lichtenstein announced his intentions to become a Trojan. USC’s recruiting class now stands at 14th best and tops in the Pac-12 according to 247 sports. With the Trojans thought to have only between 18-23 spots this cycle, spots are quickly filling up in SC’s 2017 class.
Out of Cypress Bay High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Lichtenstein is another prospect that looks to be underrated by many top recruiting sites. Listed at 6’5" 248 lbs., Lichtenstein has excellent physical potential and a fantastic work ethic both on and off the field. He has a tremendous frame that is perfectly built for a role similar to that of Porter Gustin in Clancy Pendergast’s defense. In the classroom, Lichtenstein also has a stellar 4.0 GPA, according to Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports.
With Porter Gustin becoming a junior next season and his backup Jabari Ruffin currently a senior, there will be ample opportunity for Lichtenstein to earn a role right away on the Trojans’ defense. Committing to USC over a reported 37 other schools, Lichtenstein is certainly a talented player that has the physical upside to become a significant contributor for SC.
