After a reality check in the Coliseum the Trojans returned to practice with a business like mentality. It was a reality check for the team during Monday’s practice and they responded very well.
Coach Helton called out Jalen Greene for making the most of his opportunities and being an unselfish team player despite battling a pulled hamstring. Greene of course started off as a quarterback but moved to wide receiver and was used last season on several big double pass plays.
While the Trojans do have several injuries they are getting healthier by the day. Helton is trying to find a balance between pushing his team as hard as he can to compete with the likes of Alabama, Stanford, Notre Dame and the rest of their brutal while at the same time being mindful of injuries.
Not surprisingly Coach Helton was asked about the quarterback position. Helton said he is staying up late at night meticulously reviewing film and checking the numbers in order to make an educated decision. Helton’s self imposed deadline of naming the starting quarterback is rapidly approaching. Helton plans to announce his quarterback decision by the end of the week.
