On Monday USC Trojans head coach Clay Helton addressed the media after practice 13. Helton referred to the day as reality day. He set up practice to simulate game day to see who is ready. What stood out was when Helton said about half of the team is ready and the other half need a lot of work. Helton saw a problem with penalties and missed assignments that have to be addressed if the Trojans are going to find success this season.
“We are a long way from a finished product, that was evident today.”
During the 75 play scrimmage the Trojans ran today Helton said a few players really stood out to him: Deontay Burnett, Ronald Jones, and Adoree’ Jackson. Burnett has matured and played like a veteran according to Helton. Helton stated he loved Ronald Jones vision and ability to hit the holes and “he is starting to become a complete back on every down.” Helton said about Adoree’ Jackson that he is really getting into “prime form” and is significantly improving by having him focus on defense.
