USC Trojans Football 2016: Focusing on Alabama and Stanford

NCAA Football: Southern California Spring Practice Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

“Great day. Practice 8, 21 to go, thank goodness.”

-Clay Helton

USC coach Clay Helton has been busy installing the full playbook for his team and they are progressing nicely but they still have a lot of work to go. Helton once again focused on situational football and specific formations in Thursday’s practice. Most notably he practiced schemes and formations the Trojans will likely see when they take on Alabama and Stanford in the first three weeks of the season.

After watching the film from Wednesday Helton stated that both Sam Darnold and Max Browne missed some assignments and missed opportunities for big plays. When asked if the what he saw on the tape made his decision harder Helton said no. Helton also still intends to stick to his August 20th deadline for naming his starting quarterback.
