"The USC Baseball team's season came to a close after the Trojans failed to qualify for the College World Series. The Trojans (28-28, 15-15) followed up last year's turnaround season with a subpar one.
Entering the season many expected the Trojans to compete for the PAC-12 title after finishing in third, with an 18-12 conference record, last season. Unfortunately, the Trojans were never able to capture any momentum in the 2016 season.
The Men of Troy dropped two of three to North Dakota to open the season before winning five of their next seven games. The Trojans opened the PAC-12 season with a series victory, defeating the California Golden Bears 2-1. Unfortunately, every time the Trojans would win three or four in a row, they would end up losing their next four.
The Trojans had a decent run in the PAC-12 but could never find the magic from last season. USC finished seventh in the PAC but just four games behind conference champion Utah.
Despite an up and down season, there were some key bright spots for the Trojans. Senior outfielder David Oppenheim is the presumptive PAC-12 batting champion with a .387 season average. As a team, the Trojans led the PAC-12 with a .294 average.— USC Trojans Baseball (@USC_Baseball) May 30, 2016
Although the Trojans missed out on the field of 64, the Men of Troy ended their season in fashion. In their final game of the season against Arizona State, the Trojans scored 31 runs.

The 31-9 victory game the Trojans their first series at Arizona State since 2014. The 31 runs were the second most in school history. Believe it or not the Trojans once scored 36 runs against UCSB in 1996.
Coach Dan Hubbs will look to have the Trojans rebound next season. USC has five seniors on the roster and is a relatively young team. Underclassmen will need to step up next year as the Trojans are set to lose some of their best hitters.
