On the site today, Julian Lopez previews the running backs going into this year's spring practice for the Trojans. Ronald Jones II and senior Justin Davis were both previewed, as well Dominic Davis, who is currently accompanying Adoree' Jackson in Track and Field, so his involvement with the football team this spring is perhaps questionable.
Meanwhile, USC gears up to face off aganst cross-town rivals UCLA in the first game of the Pac-12 Tournament today. The tournament is single elimination, so this could be the most high-stakes match up between the two this year. However this year, the Trojans have a little more going for them. The LA Times writes that this year, the Trojans will go into the tournament ranked higher than the Bruins, and will have the chance to beat them for a third time this season.
The LA Daily News also previews the rivalry game, writing that the teams will enter the tournament "facing opposite trajectories," with UCLA having lost 5 of its last 6 games, and USC having the chance to return to the NCAA Tournament after missing it for two years in a row.
Meanwhile spring practice gears up, with fourth-year junior Max Browne telling the LA Times that the job of starting quarterback is his to lose. Browne played back up for Cody Kessler last season, but will have to prove his worth against relative newcomer Sam Darnold. According to the LA Daily News, new Head Coach Clay Helton would only name a starting QB by next month if a "huge gap" developed between the two prospects.
