Steve Sample has died

Longtime USC president Steve Sample has died. He had Parkinson's disease and was 70 years old.

Farewell to Steve Sample

Sample pushed for changes in admissions so it wouldn't be so easy to get accepted. He also raised lots of money from donors. Starting with Sample, USC also brought in a lot of foreign students to get more cash. Sample also hired some retired professors from other schools so we could have more prize-winning faculty on the roster, which made us look better in some rankings. He served as president from 1991-2010. Farewell, Steve, and thank you for making USC a better place!
