Notes from the press conference:
-Max Browne is definitely the front runner in the quarterback competition. Given Helton's preference to have the competition wrapped up by the end of Spring Practice it looks like Browne will likely be the starting quarterback in 2016.
-Helton loved the physicality of the team. Justin Davis and Ronald Jones impressed Helton as well.
-The offensive line continues to impress in the running game but still gave up two sacks in the scrimmage.
-Bigelow tore his ACL and will be out 7-9 months. Helton and Pendergrast plan to heavily use a nickel package on defense in part to help compensate. Helton is confident in 7 guys who are capable of playing on the interior defensive line but still believes they will be shorthanded against teams like Alabama and Stanford.
-Taylor McNamara continues to deal with a shoulder injury that when it flares up limits his practice time.
-The team has a long way to go but are farther along than expected according to Helton.
-Defensively Iman Marshall has stood out to Helton and continues to make the daily practice highlight tape. At offensive guard Helton said they are stacked with plenty of great depth.
-JuJu Smith-Schuster continues to battle a hamstring injury but is expected to be back the first of next week.
