The USC Trojans are undergoing a massive rebuild on the defensive line having to replace several starters from a unit that never really replaced Leonard Williams. That rebuilding effort took a huge hit when Kenny Bigelow went down with an injury on Thursday. That injury turned out to be a torn ACL an injury that will sideline Bigelow for the next 7 to 9 months.
Estimates right now put the earliest Bigelow could return to action in late October. If it takes the full nine months then Bigelow will miss the entire season. Bigelow was one of the few upperclassmen in a very young position unit hoping to replace 5 departing players. Bigelow intends to remain as captain and help coach the younger guys up while he recovers.
Tragically this is not the first time Bigelow has missed an entire season. In 2014 a knee injury kept Bigelow out of action for the entire year. Bigelow redshirtted during the 2013 season and after missing 2014 he finally saw playing time in 2015 as a backup.
