National Signing Day 2016: 3-star DE Liam Jimmons signs with USC

The Trojans add a local defensive end to their 2016 class.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

USC gains a defensive player from just down the road after seeking much of its 2016 class from out of state, as three-star Liam Jimmons, a 6'4, 240-lb. defensive end from Huntington Beach sent in his official papers today.

Rated 45 in the nation at the strongside defensive end position by 247Sports Composite rankings, Jimmons first committed to USC this past June, picking USC over Washington, Colorado State, Nevada, and other Mountain West programs. He also played at tight end for part of his high school career for the Huntington Beach Oilers.

Jimmons is currently smaller than the other defensive ends on USC's roster, but could potentially fit in as a tight end. Jimmons is currently slated to play defensive end, but his versatility could help the roster in other ways, especially after he gets a little more experience in the program.

Highlights from his final high school season can be seen below.
