Men's Basketball: USC 65, Texas A&M 63 - Highlights 11/18/16

From ESPN’s Recap:

“The Aggies (2-1) led 63-60 with 58 seconds remaining when the Trojans (3-0) closed with a flourish. Bennie Boatwright made two free throws with 45 seconds remaining to tighten the gap to 63-62. Hampton then drove the lane and missed a short jump shot, and Boatwright missed a 3-point attempt on the ensuing possession. But McLaughlin grabbed the offensive rebound, and Metu followed with a dunk to lift the Trojans to a 64-63 lead they wouldn't relinquish.”

Recap from our friends at Good Bull Hunting:

“Turnovers and generally poor guard play down the stretch sunk the Aggies, and this is something that had me worried from the very first basketball piece we wrote this year. We need aggressive wing scoring, and we have that guy on the roster... but he’s being asked to play point guard.

I did note that Gilder was moved off the ball on our late possessions, but Hampton just wasn’t up to snuff playing PG in big moments. Not really sure how we’re going to handle that moving forward.”

Recap from Reign of Troy:

“In the end, the veteran McLaughlin, the big man Metu and the young gun Melton provided the boost the Trojans needed. McLaughlin led the team with four assists, Metu led the Trojans in scoring and Melton’s instinctual play gave USC a chance.”
