From: “Jonathan Lockett’s first career interception sets up a touchdown for JuJu Smith-Schuster”
“The USC Trojans were trailing Arizona State 3-0 in the first quarter when Clay Helton decided (possibly because he was tired of the critiques about his punting decisions) to go for it on 4th and short on the Trojans’ side of the field. The 4th down try was blown up and went for a loss.
On the ensuing Sun Devils possession they took a shot deep but defensive back Jonathan Lockett came up with a big time over the shoulder interception.”
From: “Justin Davis breaks off a 37 yard touchdown run against Arizona State”
“Coach Clay Helton spoke all week about controlling the ball and getting touchdowns instead of field goals. Running back Justin who had already broke open a 49 yard run that set up a touchdown pass went for another huge run. From the Arizona State 37 yard line Davis hit the hole and got a great down field block from Juju Smith-Schuster to take it to the house. Davis’ touchdown put the Trojans up 24-6 late in the second quarter.”
From: “Juju Smith-Schuster goes 67 yards for his 3rd touchdown against Arizona State”
“USC wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster struggled to find touches during the first part of the season. He finally had a breakout night against Arizona State. Smith Schuster already had 2 touchdowns in the first half against the Sun Devils but early in the second half he caught a pass and took it to the end zone for a 67-yard touchdown. This is the Juju we all expected to see.”
From: “USC Still Alive In The South With a 41-20 Win Over ASU”
“Let’s just say, Sam Darnold is here to stay. The chemistry between Sam and JuJu is quite the sight to see. The pair make it seem as though Darnold was the go to QB from the get go. Sam Darnold easily became a fan favorite tonight, and was able to grasp the trust in successfully leading the Trojans for the next few years. Since his move to the starting Quarterback position, he has been able to transition and change the dynamic of USC’s offense.
Arizona State wasn’t expecting such a strong defensive effort tonight from USC. The Trojans defense brought the pressure and the heat from the very start. Jonathan Lockett had some great defensive plays attempting to go for two picks of the night, but nearly missing it. Interception after interception. It was nice to see the Trojans get their groove back.”
