USC football 2016: Trojans look to get healthy and prep for the future during bye week

The USC Trojans are using the early part of their bye week installing a bit of their game plan for the Cal game next Thursday. They are also resting their banged up players while getting the younger players quality practice reps where they normally would not during a normal week. Specifically the Trojans are doing some more work with the younger wide receivers with Juju Smith-Schuster dealing with a back injury and Steven Mitchell Jr. out for the season.

On Thursday and Friday of this week the USC players will have a break from practice and have the opportunity the catch up or get ahead on school work. Meanwhile the coaches will be on the road on Thursday and Friday making recruiting trips.

On Saturday USC will resume their normal practice schedule treating the day how they normally would treat a Monday. The Trojans play a mid week game at home against Cal so the bye week provides them an opportunity to still have a full week to prepare.

Meanwhile the Cal Bears will host Oregon Friday night and then have to travel to Los Angeles in the middle of next week to get ready for the Thursday night game with USC. The Bears have not won a true road game since September of 2015. The Trojans have not lost at home since Steve Sarkisian was the coach.
