Clay Helton addressed the media after the Trojans practice on Thursday. As per usual the Trojans were working on red zone situations in Thursday’s practice. Justin Davis with a high ankle sprain was officially ruled out for Saturday’s game but Coach Helton said that they have plenty of quality runners so he intends to stay balanced between the run and the pass and not change the game plan in any way.
Clay Helton reiterated that this was a critical game for the Trojans. USC needs a win not just to stay competitive in the Pac-12 South standings but also because the Trojans have played poorly on the road under Clay Helton. USC has yet to win a road game this season and while they have improved with each road game they still have not won a game away from the Coliseum since last November.
While stud running back Justin Davis will be out, tight end Taylor McNamara and tackle Zach Banner will be in action which should be a huge help to the offense both in the passing attack and in the running back. USC had plenty of contributions from the Tight Ends last week against Colorado and a healthy McNamara should hopefully help continue that.
