USC vs. Arizona Staff Predictions

NCAA Football: Arizona at Utah Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Coming off of a sluggish win over Colorado, the Trojans look to stay in the win column when they travel to Tucson to face the Wildcats. Here are our staff predictions:

Julian Lopez: USC- 35 Arizona- 17

USC has struggled in Tucson in the past but this Arizona team isn't very good. They are dealing with a lot of injuries and USC should walk away with a victory. I am interested to see how much work Ronald Jones gets.

Matthew Lowry: USC- 38 Arizona- 28

This should be a game where USC blows out Arizona but the thing about that is USC often find themselves in situations where they end up struggling in those type of games. Tucson has been a house of horrors for the Trojans over the years, this could be a game where Arizona could derail the Trojans Pac-12 south title hopes with a victory. Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate will give USC some fits, however I think the Trojans will end up being too much for the Wildcats. USC will win, but this could be closer than many think.

Steve Walter: USC- 42 Arizona- 23

USC’s defense was somewhat of an unsung hero in last week’s victory against Colorado. Adoree’ Jackson has emerged as a leader, and he should play a key role in slowing down another opponent with a dangerous passing game. If the Trojans can do a better job of holding onto the football, they should be able to keep Arizona at a distance.

Nick Dempsey: USC 31, Arizona 23

USC is a much better team than Arizona even with Justin Davis out. However, The Trojans are almost two completely different teams on the road versus when they are playing in the Coliseum. Helton is undefeated at home as the head coach in the Coliseum. Unfortunately he is 2-7 away from the Coliseum. I’m not entirely sure why USC plays so much worse at home but the Trojans have not won a road game since they squeaked out a win against a much worse Colorado team on November 13, 2015.

Utah was a game they should have won this season, Stanford was a road game they could have won. This team just plays worse on the road. If it were played in the Coliseum I could easily see a game similar to how the Arizona State game played out. Unfortunately they play this game on the road so they likely will struggle to win against an inferior opponent.
