***UPDATE*** According Gerard Martinez of Scout's USC site -- USCfootball.com --Coach Steve Sarkisian has confirmed the transfer:
"I met with Ricky and he decided to move on...," said Sarkisian. "I wished him the best of luck."
Town participated in spring football for the Trojans, but saw limited reps during live competition. This fall, Town competed head-to-head with fellow freshman quarterback Sam Darnold for snaps.
"All this really does is give Sam more reps," said Sarkisian.
According to a tweet from Demetric Warren of Varsity Preps, 5-star USC quarterback Ricky Town has requested a transfer from USC and Steve Sarkisian has verbally agreed.

So far (as of mid-Sunday afternoon) there has been no secondary source or official confirmation from the team or the University. Just tweets, speculation, and rumors. Sometimes though, where there is enough smoke, there just might be a fire.
A source on the #USC football team regarding Ricky Town, "he's not with the team anymore." Confirms @DemetricDWarren's report. Town is gone.

Town is a highly rated quarterback and many thought he could be the QB to take over after Kessler leaves. The QB depth chart for USC is pretty stacked, with potentially even more great talent incoming. It would not be surprising if the young man felt he would have a greater opportunity to play at another school. Until we get confirmation on anything, this may all just be speculation.
Ricky Town transferring was predictable. Look at a depth chart, dude.

Take RIcky Town out of USC's 2015 class, Alabama would have been Scout's No. 1 class @JohnGarcia_Jr @insidetroy http://t.co/gCkvbBwpsb
