USC defensive coaches have to be ecstatic now that they have landed another huge commit on the defensive side of the ball. CJ Pollard, the No.10 safety in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings, has given a verbal agreement to the Men of Troy this evening at "The Opening" Nike football camp. The Junipero Serra star has chosen the Trojans over Arizona State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Oregon.
Pollard, a physical defensive back, has shown plenty of promise in his junior year and at the various camps he has attended this summer. CJ has dominated in "The Opening" football camp against some of the best high school athletes around the nation. His body frame allows him to take on speedy receivers and big tight ends, giving him a physical advantage to use the combination of strength and speed. Pollard plays with aggressiveness and is capable of jamming a receiver off the ball and shutting them down at the line of scrimmage. In his junior season, Pollard improved his ability to come down and be a complete run-stopper, something defensive coaches love to see from their secondary. CJ joins a hard hitting 2016 Trojans recruiting class, joining outside linebackers Jordan Iosefa and Mique Juarez, and defensive lineman Keyshon Camp, Keanu Saleapaga, and Liam Jimmons. Be sure to tune into The Opening and watch CJ Pollard lead his Alpha Pro team in the 7-on-7 tournaments this evening and tomorrow (July 10th).
