Blockburger coached at Arizona for 10 seasons, and another 15 seasons at Cal Poly prior to that. Blockurger has coached 13 NCAA titles, 30 conference championships, and 54 All-Americans in his career.
From the USC Athletics website:
"This is a huge coup for USC Track & Field. Sheldon is, arguably, one of the few premier jumps and multi-events coaches in America and we are very pleased to be able to add such a great coach and mentor to our staff," said Smith Gilbert. "He brings a wealth of experience, success and passion along with him to USC and we are excited to welcome him into the Trojan Family."
