  • Tight End
  • Campolindo HS (Moraga, CA)
  • Ht: 6'6" / 223 pounds

Just a few weeks ago, Tyler Petite was planning to be a Duke Blue Devil. But on December 14, Petite switched his commitment from Duke to USC and this morning, he signed his letter of intent and officially became a Trojan, the school announced early on Wednesday morning.

The Moraga, Calif. native can make an immediate impact as a Trojan next year as he will join Bryce Dixon and Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick as the only scholarship tight ends on the team in 2015.

As a senior, Tyler Petite had 37 receptions for 969 yards and nine touchdowns as he led Campolindo HS to a CIF Division III state championship, which took place at the StubHub Center in Carson. Petite also was selected to play in the Under Armor All-American Game on January 2 where he had a great week in the annual showcase.

At 6-foot-6, 223 pounds, Petite is an ideal red zone threat as he has terrific hands and possesses great route-running ability. But with a 4.6-4.7 40-yard dash, Tyler Petite could become another weapon to help Trojans quarterback Cody Kessler stretch the field next year.

ESPN ranked Petite as the No. 2 tight end in the 2015 recruiting class and the 85th overall recruit. Rivals has Petite as the No. 6 tight end in the country and Scout.com has him as at No. 10. Petite also excels in the classroom where he carried a 3.4 GPA and was named the NCS Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.
