The closest player to Howard Jones in actual proximity just announced that he will officially be attending the University of Southern California campus. Three-star defensive end Christian Rector out of Loyola HS in Los Angeles was highly coveted, earning offers from Pac-12 rivals ASU, Cal, Colorado, Oregon State, UCLA and WSU.
But following his official visit to USC back on January 16, a very popular day for the relatively hard commits, the local product stuck to his initial college conviction. The 6-foot-4 athlete played both football and basketball at Loyola High School, averaging a team-high 6.5 tackles per game for the Cubs.
According to 247sports, Christian Rector is considered the 61st-best player in California, and more specifically, the No. 18 weak-side defensive end in the 2015 recruiting class.
Rector understands what being a Trojan is all about as his high school head coach, Marvin Sanders, used to be an assistant for the USC Trojans. And now, the three-star prospect will be fighting for playing time at a position group of relative strength in the years to come, now featuring the services of Jabari Ruffin, Quinton Powell, Scott Felix and potentially freshman Osa Masina.
