The USC Trojans had a turbulent season to say the least. The Trojans were predicted to be playoff contenders before losing two games early, then they fired head coach Steve Sarkisian. The Trojans named Clay Helton as the interim head coach, lost to Notre Dame on the road, and then slowly clawed their way back into the Pac-12 Conference Championship game before losing to Stanford.
USC suffered a crushing loss to Oregon on the road then followed it up with a dominating win against rival UCLA at home. Shortly after the victory over the Bruins USC athletic director Pat Haden announced Clay Helton would drop the interim tag. In Helton's first game after the announcement the Trojans were thumped by Christian McCaffrey and the Stanford Cardinal in the Pac-12 Championship. Now USC is set to play the Wisconsin Badgers in the Holiday Bowl.
USC will take on Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl. Confirmed.

"Wisconsin has had perhaps the least-talked about 9-3 season in the country. Ever since losing to Alabama and Iowa early in the season, the Badgers have pretty much been out of the national consciousness. They crept into the College Football Playoff rankings, but promptly lost to Northwestern and fell out. In short, they beat all the teams they should beat and lost to all the teams they should lose to. Nothing exciting, one way or the other."
